The Serve

The Serve is the first shot of any rally in squash and will set the tone for the early stages of a point, so it needs to be done well.
A great Serve is one that will prevent an opponent from being able to attack and ideally force a Boast or similar defensive shot.
If you get the Serve right, you will often find an opportunity to attack and possibly hit a winning shot very early in the rally.
As with most shots in the game, there are several variations – it is important you try to vary your Service from time to time to prevent your opponent growing too accustomed to it and gaining an advantage. Here we will discuss several different ways you can Serve the ball to great effect.
Typically, players will serve to their opponents Backhand as it is traditionally a slightly weaker side, although it’s good to change this from time to time as well.
